Fiona Kelly Pots
Having potted for nearly 50 years my work has evolved over time - now I'm probably best known for my fish pots, but continue to create other designs as well, which is the beauty of making in clay, it is such a versitile material with endless possibilities.
I first met clay when I was 12 and went to an adult ed class with my mum. Having been encouraged by the tutor I had a go on the wheel - saying to mum as we left "When I earn my own money I'm going to join a pottery class". So 9 years later I signed up for evening classes at Goldsmiths' College. These led to me applying for a year's course which I completed part time over two years so I could keep earning, and have kept making ever since, fitting pots in to a busy life with 4 daughters and workiing with my husband in tourism and construction.
Over the years I've sold my work at events around Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire (see Events), and through a number of galleries (see Stockists). In 2013 we took over the Creative Gallery in Wareham where I'd sold since it opened in 2005, which we ran as a co-operative until we sold up September, 2024 - but potting endures....................
So that's my journey with clay so far, there are images from the past (see Gallery) here and I frequently post on Instagram and Facebook (fionakellypots) with images of new creations and upcoming events.
Enjoy!
